What is changing?
The Government of Ontario is making changes to OHIP+, effective April 1, 2019
Life insurance on the key income earner of a home usually accounts for the bulk of a family's protection dollar. The death of the key income earner would put a tremendous strain on the family's financial resources.
Financial problems could also occur at the death of a spouse or child, in addition to the emotional loss of a loved one. Many employers are anxious to help relieve the employee of worries that can affect job productivity. Dependent Life insurance meets this need.
This benefit is paid in a lump sum regardless of the cause of death, and is designed to pay for the insured's last illness and funeral expenses, not to replace the deceased's future lost income.
